or a list of my favourite films, bc i only like films that cheer me up. a lot of em are on netflix too.
'70S, '80S & '90S CLASSIC HIGH SCHOOL FLICKS WHERE THE BOY GETS THE GIRL AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY
will either be v helpful or v destructive if you're going through a breakup. play it by ear.
- grease. duh
- the breakfast club. five kids, one representing each stereotypical high school clique, spend detention together.
- pretty in pink. this stars molly ringwald (who played the popular girl in the breakfast club) and is worth watching for duckie. do it 4 duckie
- she's all that. about a popular guy who gets dared to go out with an unpopular girl and ends up falling for her. features a sick-ass dance routine to fatboy slim.

ANYTHING BY WES ANDERSON
partially because he's my favourite director, partially because the plots are always so charming and quirky and don't even get me STARTED on the cinematography oh my god
- favourites include the grand budapest hotel, which got pretty well-recognised, and moonrise kingdom (actually my favourite film), which is about two kids who run away together and honestly it's just aaaah and ooooh (do u get me)
MOVIES WITH HOT GUYS (AND GIRLS)
sometimes you're just completely in it for the visual appeal and that is ok
- mr & mrs smith. angelina jolie and brad pitt, hello
- the great gatsby, inception, the beach or anything else with leonardo dicaprio. except titanic, don't go near that shit if ur sad
- pirates of the caribbean. jack sparrow is just really cute?? orlando bloom and a weird tentacle man also both feature if ur into that
- just tailor this to have your favourite actors/actresses idk

GIRL POWER
strong female leads where romance isn't the main storyline. we need more of these
- the devil wears prada. or "how to make it in the fashion world featuring meryl streep"
- the lizzie mcguire movie. not even kidding
- legally blonde. (and legally blonde 2)
- legally blonde. (and legally blonde 2)
- easy a. about a high school girl who gets branded as a slut and kinda goes "screw u guys sluts are great i'm gonna own this"
- freaky friday. again, not even kidding.
- clueless. technically this could go in the teen high school flick section but i connected more with how the main character shuns boys for the majority of the film instead of the romance part (fuck boys amirite)
GENERAL FEELGOODS
(these don't fit into the other categories)
- submarine. god i just love richard ayoade as a director
- the second most exotic marigold hotel.

- the second most exotic marigold hotel.
- the perks of being a wallflower. okay that's such a lie, this film actually makes me cry - but not an altogether unhappy cry and sometimes when i'm sad i feel like i need that? idk this was a bad explanation i'm sorry
- anything disney, preferably cartoon

Being a HUGE movie buff... I love the selection of these! Leonardo is amazing and I love him in EVERYTHING, except Titanic, too, haha. He's so crazy talented! I think I've watched Devil Wears Prada like 15 times - it's simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe Breakfast Club...yes <3
"Each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, Breakfast Club."
